Ministries
Just one of the appealing characteristics of the Episcopal Church, and of The Church of the Holy Trinity, is the fact that you may be as involved, or not, as you wish. For those who are looking for a way to become more involved in the life of the church several different and varied avenues are made available. Here are just a few (if one or more appeal to you, call 488-7139 for more information):

Altar Guild
This is a working guild that is responsible for preparing the altar for each worship service. This includes the weekly and seasonal worship services as well as all baptisms, weddings, funerals, and all other special services. In addition, the guild is responsible for care of the linens, candles, vessels, and vestments used by the clergy of the church.

Budget/Finance
This committee, working with the Treasurer, is responsible for the preparation of the church’s annual budget. In addition they maintain the on-going stewardship program. They also administer the investment and maintenance of the Church’s financial assets.

Chalice Bearers and Lay Eucharistic Visitors
This group administers the chalice containing the consecrated wine used in the Eucharist. Some individuals may also take communion to members who are ill, in the hospital, nursing homes, or shut-in at home. Training is provided by the clergy. Some also serve as Lectors.

Christian Education

This group leads our Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs. They also direct the annual Christmas Pageant. Sunday School begins each week with music, followed by a lesson and then some form of craft. A snack, memory verse and game is included in the morning routine. Vacation Bible School is based on a different theme each year and is open to the children from the neighborhood.

Church Growth
The mission of this committee is to welcome and integrate newcomers, as well as all parishioners, for worship and fellowship with the Lord. They are also responsible for organizing and presenting events which may be open to the public in order to attract interest in becoming a member of the church.

Communications
This committee is responsible for all advertising for the church. This includes the Yellow Pages, ads and publicity for up-coming events, and the church’s website.

Dinner Circles
These are small groups of parishioners, usually no more than 6 to 8 in a group, who meet monthly for dinner and fellowship. Each meeting is held at a different member’s home on an alternating basis.

Episco-Pals
This is the name of our adult fellowship group which is open to any member of the parish. It is a very informal, loose-knit group that likes to get together at various times during the year, usually pot-luck around a food theme. This group sponsors the annual Shrimp Boil and other, usually ethnic-oriented, dinners. Usually meetings are held at a members home, but occasionally they may be held elsewhere due to the theme.

Landscape
This group of nature lovers is responsible for the care and maintenance of our grounds, including the English Garden in the Courtyard. While mowing and snow removal are handled commercially, this committee maintains our campus by timely tree-trimming, weeding, raking leaves, and general clean-up. Usually two big efforts are organized in the spring and fall.

Lectors
After a short period of study and training presented by the clergy, this group of individuals read the lessons during the worship service. Some may also serve as Chalice Bearers.

Outreach
This committee heads up the church’s mission of support to the community. The effort is not part of the annual church budget. They depend entirely on fundraisers such as; Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Spring Rummage Sale, Fall Bazaar, and other events. This committee then decides on the recipients and amount of support to be distributed to various local human service agencies.

Parish Council
Each committee chair is automatically a member of this group. Meetings are held monthly to maintain good communication and coordination among the various committees of the church. This group also plans and organizes the logistics for several of the outside events hosted by the church.

St. Elizabeth’s Guild
This is primarily a social group of ladies of the parish who meet monthly for lunch and fellowship. Each year they support the Rector’s and Deacons’ Discretionary funds through contributions financed by their annual dues and fundraising activities. They also support at least one outside agency annually.

Vestry
This is the legal governing and decision-making body of the church. It consists of the Rector and elected lay representatives from the parish. Terms are for three years, and one-third of the lay representatives are elected each year at the Annual Meeting of the parish. The group is responsible for the business side of the church. This includes monitoring the budget, ensuring that our bills are paid in a timely manner, and that the building and grounds are maintained satisfactorily.

This list barely scratches the surface of the total ministries of Holy Trinity Church. If you would like to
learn more about any of these or other ministries, please contact our Rector or the church office.
